As defined by the Upledger Institute,
CST is a gentle, hands-on method of evaluating and enhancing the functioning of a physiological body system called the craniosacral system – comprised of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord.
Using a soft touch generally no greater than 5 grams, or about the weight of a nickel, practitioners release restrictions in the craniosacral system to improve the functioning of the central nervous system.

Myofascial Restrictions and Trigger points are often overlooked when addressing musculoskeletal pain and movement dysfunction. Fascia is defined as a sheet or band of fibrous connective tissue enveloping, separating, or binding together muscles, organs, and other tissues of the body. The Fascia is intimately connected with the nervous system. Restrictions in the fascial system can cause widespread aching in the body lasting > 3 months, localized tenderness in 14 specific sites, disturbed sleep, fatigue and sleep disturbances. At Anderson Physical Therapy, we utilize a variety of techniques (myofascial unwinding, skin rolling, and IASTM) to reduce fascial restrictions. This improves chronic pain and function.
